Simplified sensors for swifter installation
August 1st 2005

Leuze Mayser says features of a new retro-reflective opto-sensor that include – interference proof, brightVision technology and Ultralock – will appeal particularly to installers of automated conveying, handling and storage solutions. Alongside faster alignment, it says the new PRK46B sensor is easier and quicker to connect to signal cables and bright display diodes, giving all-round visual operational status.

Leuze MD, Terry Boughen, says the company has reengineered the sensor to achieve the total package of benefits “at a very affordable price”. The new sensor can be built more quickly and more efficiently, enabling savings to be passed on.

Although the maximum signal range of the sensor is 18m, according to the company it also offers one of the closest near distance reading distances (just 5cm) of any opto-sensor.

Features such as interference proof – whereby the reflected signal is not disturbed by the crinkling of outer protective skins like shrink-wrap – make the sensor suited to end-of-line pallet load monitoring.

Installation teams will also benefit from Ultralock – a simple, secure push-pull connection for tight locations. brightVision is the top mounted LEDs which simplify alignment of the sensor reflector through better visibility.
