Crocodile overcomes storage challenge June 1st 2006 When BMW needed to store 45,000 cylinder heads during the changing of production facilities at its Hams Hall engine plant, it turned to Crocodile Packaging for a solution. For reasons of quality, the heads had to be extremely wellprotected during packing and stored in batches of 32 at the plant.
The inexpensive solution Crocodile devised involves the use of special cases, manufactured from 18mm chipboard with an 18mm OSB base and holds four layers of eight cylinder heads. Protecting the cylinder heads on all six sides ensured there is no risk of damage. The speed of the packing line was also an important design consideration.
The cases are simple to put together and robust enough to give the required level of protection during storage. They can be stacked for storage, eliminating the need for racking and maximising use of limited space. More articles from Crocodile Packaging Ltd: |
