Extension of partnership
June 1st 2008

Festo, a provider of automation technology, appointed Witron as general contractor for the fourth construction phase of the Festo Customer Support Center (CSC), based in St. Ingbert-Rohrbach, Saarland. The conclusion of the contract continues the successful partnership (established in 1995) of the two companies.

The main reason for the CSC expansion was to further increase the high service level for Festo's 300,000+ customers located in 176 countries. With construction phase four, Festo will be able to supply parts to all of its end customers in Central Europe within 24 hours after receipt of order. The core component of the expansion is the Witron tote picking system OPS (Order Picking System), which enables the storage and order picking integrated in one system.

The newly constructed sector includes an automatic small parts warehouse with 14 aisles, 68,000 totes that are sub-divided and 10 workstations, each able to provide the entire article range containing more than 30,000 articles for order picking.
