Distribution workers take the strain June 16th 2009
27 per cent of distribution workers have had their pay cut since the recession began. One in four (27 per cent) have experienced a reduction in hours and one in three (33 per cent) have lost benefits, the highest in the UK, according to a survey of 1,600 workers by the Keep Britain Working campaign. The report finds worker flexibility is keeping redundancies a last resort.
A recent HSS e-news poll found that 60 per cent of readers would take a pay cut to keep colleagues in a job. |
