NYK secures PC World contract December 1st 2005 NYK Logistics has secured a major logistics contract with computer and peripherals retailer, PC World.
Part of the DSG International Group, PC World is Britain's largest specialist chain of computer stores. NYK Logistics is providing storage, distribution, reverse logistics and collection services for a network of 152 stores.
This is primarily a dedicated delivery service supported by NYK Logistics' shared user network to meet peak demand. It involves a combination of night trunks and daytime deliveries to stores between the hours of 7.00am and 9.00pm.
Next day deliveries are also made to DSG International local distribution centres and regional distribution centres. Orders are received by EDI (electronic data interchange).
At peak times up to 300 employees will work on the contract from warehousing totalling 14,864m2.
"NYK Logistics has the infrastructure to ensure sustained growth is managed successfully and initiatives are introduced to effectively develop the supply chain for PC World," says Graham Wilkie, supply chain director at PC World.
