Two new types of vacuum head
April 1st 2006

AL-Vac has developed two new types of vacuum head for its Combat vacuum lifting machine. The new heads have been specifically designed to handle crash barriers during installation - a difficult and potentially hazardous operation.

The two types of vacuum heads are for use with Sshaped crash barriers and square or box section barriers. Both have a 90° tilt mechanism which, at the touch of a lever, allows the barrier section to rotate smoothly under their own weight.

Once rotated, the barrier section can be aligned with the mounting posts for precise installation. The use of vacuum heads makes it easier for contractors to meet safety and handling regulations, as manual handling and lifting is kept to an absolute minimum. It also makes the process much simpler and therefore quicker for increased productivity.

The battery operated Combat can be suspended from the hook of a Hiab or the jib arm of an excavator without the need for any hydraulic services. Battery operation does not mean less power - a controllable lifting capacity of 500kg is achieved.
