A nifty solution
February 1st 2008

Niftylift has bought a tow tractor from Bradshaw Electric Vehicles to transport parts the quarter of a mile from its stores to its production area on public roads. "We opened our new stores in April this year and were faced with the problem of transporting the materials in kit form from there to the assembly area," says Derrick Osborne from Niftylift.

"We looked at various options to do this, including a van and even a milk float, but found an electric tow tractor and trailer to be the most economical option." The tow tractor is used all day and then charged overnight ready for use the next morning. Niftylift opted for the T6 model which is capable of towing up to seven tonnes.

Bradshaw's T6 AC was upgraded in 2007. It has automotive style controls and an AC drive system which is said to give lower service costs, as there are no parts in the motor or controller that can wear.
