The case for automation December 1st 2007 WITRON's systems integrator
has sold its 200th COM
(Case Order Machine). The
success of the first COM
project has led to orders for
more than 10 automated
case picking DCs across
North America and Europe.
"We started a new picking
era with COM," says Jack
Kuypers of Witron
Engineering BV.
"It enables automatic
picking of cases with varied
sizes, shapes, volumes and
package types without the
need for any gripping or
suction techniques.
"In combination with
standardised racking and
mechanisation, as well as
our sophisticated IT and
control systems, we can
provide a totally integrated
and automated warehouse
and picking solution from
receiving to shipping."
The COM was awarded
the VDI Innovation Award for
Logistics by The Association
of German Engineers (VDI).
