Valla mobile cranes beat trucks August 1st 2005 Valla mobile cranes have been selected by leading tyre manufacturer, Cooper Avon Tyres to help carry out heavy equipment handling at their Melksham operation.
Cooper Avon Tyres have invested in two electric powered Valla 75Es and a single 35E mobile crane to accurately lift and relocate tyre moulds, generally weighing up to 2000kg, in their production areas – a frequent requirement, previously carried out by forklift trucks with boom attachments.
Whilst forklifts could lift each mould, overhead restrictions at the busy site prevented them getting access to all areas because of their masts. Offering a greatly increased operating envelope over Cooper’s old forklifts, the Valla 75E’s horizontally mounted telescopic threepart boom provides the company with up to 8m of lifting height and over 5m of forward outreach combined with a maximum lifting capacity of 7500kg. Of crucial significance to the job, when in travel mode the agile crane can pass under 2.3m high obstacles to safely gain access to all areas of the site. |
