Push or pull bogies easily
August 1st 2005

Stowe Woodward (a leading supplier of elastomeric roller coverings) of Fife, is using a Nu-Star Super Pusher for pushing and pulling roll handling bogies on site.

As part of a recent UK restructuring programme, paper and industrial rolls from around the UK are sent to Stowe Woodward in Glenrothes for reconditioning/modifying.

As part of this process they need to be manoeuvred into and out of a shot-blasting chamber, vulcanising ovens and extrusion processes.

The loads can weigh up to 55 tonnes. Systems manager, Ian Stirling, realised that a forklift was not going to be a suitable solution given the space restraints. He says the Super Pusher enables one operator to do the job “and is much safer than trying to do this by hand or trying to use a fork truck as a towing vehicle”.
