Handling is a piece of cake
February 1st 2008 Stephen Gamble, MD of
Steve's Cakes, has invested
in an Aisle-Master
articulated forklift for the
company's 20,000 ft2
manufacturing and
distribution facility. The 2
tonne capacity machine will
take care of the handling
and storage of pallets of raw
materials and the finished
product. The Aisle-Master
forklift was brought in to
replace a counterbalance
truck in the warehouse,
after Aisle-Master's design
engineers drew up plans
illustrating how to achieve
extra storage space in the
existing premises.
"This free service was an
eye opener" says Stephen.
"By racking out the
warehouse according to its
capabilities, we have 40%
more storage space in the
same area. This will allow us
to increase production
without buying extra space
or relocating. The extra
pallet positions have also
allowed us to do away with
external storage and keep
