Safety inspection system also aids preventative maintenance April 1st 2006 Scafftag's Forkliftag system is used on the 600 leased forklift trucks at the Land Rover manufacturing plant near Birmingham.
The system comprises a highly visible and durable plastic holder with a plastic insert listing all items requiring inspection on each pre-shift check. The Forkliftag tagging system helps ensure safety and reflects Land Rover's commitment to preventative maintenance.
The strategy and specifications manager notes: "The Forkliftag system was introduced as a safety measure for forklift vehicles, but also as part of the company's policy of preventative maintenance, so that concerns are noted and resolved before they become a problem or danger."
If the driver spots any potential dangers or faults, it is reported immediately to the maintenance contractor team on site and the truck is taken out of service until the matter is dealt with.
Before the Forkliftag system was introduced, the plant relied upon checks being carried out without formal documentation. The system helps to give accountability and a clear, recorded method of forklift safety and maintenance.
