Audit for explosion-proof trucks August 1st 2007 The risk of a defective EX
truck operated within
potentially flammable
atmospheres is a serious risk
in the materials handling
industry. Pyroban reports
that not all EX converted
trucks are maintained by
service engineers trained
specifically on the explosion
proof equipment, the end
user should check the
engineer's capabilities and
certification. "There are
three simple steps to ensure
good practice and maintain
compliance under DSEAR,"
says Darren Boiling,
customer service manager
for Pyroban in the south of
England. "Firstly, use
engineers who are trained
on the Pyroban system, then
follow the recommended
service schedules. Lastly,
carry out an EX-ASA which is
an independent annual
inspection, like an MOT, in
line with GN28, the fork
truck annual inspection. The
EX-ASA is carried out by
Compex accredited Pyroban
engineers." Pyroban
maintains that an explosion
proof truck will be delivered
to site safe, but what
happens thereafter should
be independently checked. More articles from Pyroban Ltd: |
