Revolutionary design sets new standards June 1st 2006 In conventional reach trucks the battery sits between the operator and the mast and effectively dictates the space available for the operator's compartment. With the introduction of X range, Linde design engineers have turned this concept on its head by relocating the battery, which has eliminated design restrictions the battery had previously imposed.
The host of operating benefits that has emanated from this new approach has resulted in a new reach truck that is claimed to set new standards for operator comfort, safety and costeffective productivity.
An extremely spacious cab provides wide access and gives the operator twice the space of a conventional reach truck, without increasing the chassis length.
The battery location has also enabled the Linde engineers to design a completely new ultra-wide mast providing a panoramic view that is claimed to be second to none.
The mast is permanently fixed to the chassis in the 'reached back' position and does not reach backwards and forwards. Instead, a unique traversing fork carriage provides the reach movement. With this system it only requires 170mm of reach travel to bring the fork carriage/pallet to the correct position for storage/retrieval cycles, compared with up to 500mm reach travel for a conventional reach truck.
