Winched to safety
April 1st 2005

LGH Winches supplied bespoke winching equipment to Jilland Engineering after health and safety guidelines forced it to replace a 60 tonne conveyor belt with an alternative system.

A 60 tonne, 4 metre wide, 60 metre long, LePolgrate Chain, used to move raw cement material from one end of a Mixing Hopper into a kiln, needed to be replaced due to general wear and tear.

Instead, they hired two bespoke design base mounted hydraulic winches and a power pack from LGH Winches and the grate chain was removed in 2m lengths each weighing around 2 tonnes. In total it took around two days to complete the removal of the old chain and the winching system ensured the process was safe and secure.
