Sideways and upwards
October 1st 2007

Sideways and upwardsTimber framed housing specialist, Pattrick and Thompsons, is reaping the benefits of a Combilift 4-way sideloader which handles raw materials and bulky finished product in the tight confines of a new production facility at its site in Kings Lynn.

Growth necessitated the conversion of an existing building on the site. Due to the tight confines in and around the building, the existing conventional sideloaders and counterbalance forklifts were not be capable of handling the large volume of both incoming raw materials and bulky finished product. A five tonne capacity diesel powered Combilift C5000SL 4-way sideloader proved the answer.

"The versatility and manoeuvrability of the Combilift sideloader have been key to the successful operation of the new production line" says MD Keith Arnett. "It offloads packs of timber, it can be exactly positioned to feed the lines and then manoeuvres the finished panels through a narrow door and very tight corners." The Combilift 4-way sideloader was developed after feedback from traditional sideloader users who wanted a more manoeuvrable machine for better storage density which could block stack, and was able to work in their preexisting aisle widths. The three wheel configuration ensures stability compared to 4-wheel machines, especially on uneven ground.
