Improved handling & storage February 1st 2006 Replacing two Bendis bought six years ago, bpi films has invested in two of the latest version of the truck from Translift, helping the company maximise handling efficiency and make the best use of available space.
Guided by paper pick lists, during the day Bendi drivers remove one tonne reeled pallet loads of polyethylene film from racking and place them outside under a canopy ready for lorry loading with a counterbalance truck. The trucks are also used to help load curtain sided vehicles when required. At night, one of the units is used to put the day's film production away in 7m high racking. To cope with this height, the Bendis have special high lift masts.
Working in aisles under 2.3m wide, the Bendis also benefit from the ability to cope with yard work.
For safety, bpi films specified the new trucks be fitted with driver's keypad, reversing bleeper and headlight. The keypad ensures only properly trained drivers are able to operate the trucks.
The Bendi is also said to be typically 20% more productive than a reach truck.
