Track-and-trace April 1st 2007 Avery Weigh-Tronix has developed a new forklift truck track-and-trace data collection system, showcased for the first time at IMHX. Developed in conjunction with Erwin SICK, the system combines a forklift truck scale with a bar code scanner to collect pallet information that can be used to monitor the progress of freight through the hub. Pallet weight and data is collected during loading or unloading without the driver needing to leave the cab, so there is no loss of speed or efficiency. An onboard indicator, the Simulcast WI130, guides the driver through the scanning and loading process and downloads data at the end of the shift for analysis. The system can create bespoke software reporting packages to detail the pallet's weight, time of unloading and reloading, its origin and destination, contents and the total number of pallets in the consignment. It can also record who was working with the pallet, providing accountability. The scale features patented Weigh Bar weight sensors and out of level compensation to maintain accuracy. The bar code scanner uses auto focus technology, enabling it to read data at different distances. More articles from Avery Weigh-Tronix Limited: |
