Still continues its design revolution!
October 1st 2006

STILL Materials Handling Ltd, one of the most respected names in forklift trucks and warehouse solutions, continues to revolutionise the way in which trucks are designed.

It began with the RXX project a technologically inspiring vision of future trucks. Dubbed the 'world's first 1million truck,' it was so inspiring and so new that everyone simply wanted to have it. Shortly afterwards, STILL launched the RX 50 electric counterbalance forklift, featuring many of the design ideas from the RXX project. New power, new driver comfort, new ergonomics and new economy the RX 50 was the birth of a totally new kind of electric forklift truck.

Building blocks of the CX range The new CX range of low level order pickers offers a modular 'building block' design principle pioneered by the STILL MX-X.

Thanks to this, the CX range is uniquely able to offer solutions for every requirement of order picking at low-level.

In addition to the standard order picking variant, the load handling section offers customers many choices. For example: Mast lift for single pallets; pantograph lift for two pallets picked up lengthways or three pallets picked up crossways; scissor lift for a back-saving picking height of 786 mm above the floor; a tow tractor version for transporting goods over longer distances.

The modular MX-X STILL understands that there is no such thing as a standard warehouse. Each one differs in terms of its construction, shape and internal equipment as well as the goods being stored and the flow of material. For this reason, STILL decided to completely change the way the industry approaches warehouse equipment with the MX-X man-up order picker.

Until STILL launched the MX-X it was necessary for customers to choose a truck from a standard range that best suited the application. This often resulted in a truck being ordered with greater capacity than actually needed. STILL's design team took a different approach as there is no such thing as a standard warehouse, why design a standard truck?

Instead the MX-X uses an advanced modular construction principle to ensure the truck is tailor made so that it directly corresponds to actual need customers are neither under nor over supplied because the MX-X is matched to the individual application. Put simply, it allows customers to choose the 'building blocks' for the truck: Mast height, lift height, battery capacity and even truck length can all be selected by the customer. Five different mast modules, for example, are available in scalable increments of 500 mm, providing lift heights to over 15 metres an industry first!

Safety first with Optispeed STILL's Optispeed features as standard on the MX-X. This greatly enhances operator safety as the

travel speed is automatically adjusted dependent on the lift height, travel direction and rate of deceleration. Because the deceleration rate is adjusted automatically the higher the lift the gentler the movements load changes are achieved much quicker.

The MX-X represents an economical warehousing solution with the simple objective of giving customers a competitive edge. The advanced technology of the MXX means customers can achieve up to 30% greater throughput of goods, up to 40% lower energy costs compared to series wound equipment and up to 20% lower maintenance times and servicing costs.

A world first the RX 20 The modular construction principle of the MX-X proved so popular with customers that when STILL replaced the R 20 range of electric counterbalance trucks last year, it was replaced with a modular build truck the RX 20/RX 60 range.

As big brother to the phenomenally successful RX 50, the RX 20/RX 60 achieves new levels of technology, safety, speed and agility and heralds a new dimension in Intralogistics not least because of the side battery change which is a world first on trucks with starting capacities from as low as 1.5 tonnes.

Since a hoist is no longer needed, safety is increased and the risk of injury and damage is considerably reduced. The side battery change is also much quicker than using a hoist, increasing both productivity and flexibility.

Challenging convention STILL engineers constantly challenge conventional concepts to find new and better solutions to logistics problems.

STILL's modular construction gives rise to a wide range of possibilities. Many different combinations can be achieved dependent on the load, working aisle width, battery capacity required and access heights. These variants all lead to one thing highly effective solutions to logistics problems.
