Is that forklift necessary? April 1st 2005 Stacker manufacturer, Logitrans, says many companies are wasting money and putting workers at risk by using forklift trucks when a smaller truck would be more suitable.
If the handling can be carried out by a smaller truck, a stacker is the optimum solution, says the manufacturer. Yet it claims companies often choose forklift trucks even though operations cannot be carried out safely, for example, in confined spaces.
According to the company there are many benefits to be gained from stackers.
Apart from being much cheaper than forklift trucks, they require less space, and the company says some companies achieve 25% space savings by replacing forklifts with stackers. Also because of their reduced speed and size, the potential for accidents is reduced accordingly. Additionally, smaller companies, which may only have a few employees with a truck certificate, can benefit because anyone can use a manual stacker.
Logitrans stackers are available in nine different lifting heights, both manual and powered. Because of the broad range, the company says customers need not buy a larger or more expensive product than necessary. Many optional extras are available. More articles from Logitrans UK Limited: |
