Cost effective pallet load break down

A leading supermarket chain has used an innovative solution from forklift truck attachments and masts supplier, B&B Attachments, to eliminate manual handling from its packaging plants. The result is a quicker, more efficient and cost effective method of breaking down pallet loads.

The supermarket chain, which has 500 stores nationwide, has large daily deliveries of fresh produce, which arrive in containers from abroad. Packed on to pallets, each load then needs to be broken down.

Pallet loads can often be as high as 2000mm making them difficult to handle manually.

To eliminate manual handling and prevent damage B&B supplied a specially adapted clamp with a layer picker and mast. Used as a standalone unit, the attachment can also be adapted for mounting on a forklift truck.
