22 new forklift trucks on hire
April 1st 2008

Permatt Fork Lift Trucks have announced the success of their bid to supply British Engines (BEL) with 22 new forklift trucks on contract hire. The TCM trucks include diesel, gas and electric powered models, and range from 2.5 to 16 tonne capacity. They are Japanese manufactured. According to Permatt, the contract is worth just under £500 000.

"With seven divisions operating from three bases in a mix of older and new properties and with different products ranging from bulky sub sea valves to electrical cable glands, we have a very diverse range of material handling requirements and it made sense to look for one totally reliable, single source supplier," explains Jonathan Lamb, BEL chief operations officer.

BEL was also happy to have found a local supplier for its Walker, Cramlington and Swalwell manufacturing bases. Jonathan Lamb continues, "We were impressed by Permatt's superb workshop facilities at Killingworth. Their response time to breakdowns of under two hours and the availability of replacement trucks is ideally suited to our requirements so that manufacturing on the sites is never held up by material handling bottlenecks." Permatt currently employ 19 staff at Killingworth. "It's a fantastic start to the year for us and a tribute to the whole team here," says Mark Percy, MD.
