Longer forks for easier pallet lifting
August 1st 2007

Forklifts from Toyota Industrial Equipment are helping to ensure maximum efficiency and reliability at British Airways Regional Cargo.

The BA division works with ten airlines, handling materials as diverse as computer software and vegetables. The forklifts used on site to unload and stack the goods ready for collection must be of the highest calibre. After testing three different manufacturers, BA chose five Toyota gas forklifts, supplied through Toyota Ireland's regional dealer, Amlac. Reportedly durable, reliable and flexible enough to handle freight of all weights and sizes, the Toyota forklifts have also been fitted with longer forks for easier and more efficient lifting of airline pallets.

"Toyota's System of Active Stability (SAS) is an important benefit for us.

As the forklifts handle freight of all sizes, some of which are high value, it is vital that drivers feel confident operating the trucks," says Gerry McCormack, general manager. "This is a demanding operation where every day is different, but the Toyota trucks meet all of our requirements and provide maximum efficiency.
