The first rotating cab April 1st 2006 Eliminating the need for the operator to look back over their shoulder, the new AC powered EFG D30 electric counterbalance truck from Jungheinrich is the first to have a rotating operator's cab, where backwards becomes forwards at the press of a button.
Designed for handling heavy loads and carrying double height pallets quickly and safely over long distances, the idea for the rotating cab came from operators who suffered back problems from looking over their shoulders to drive in reverse.
The rotating cab truck was shown first to CEMAT visitors, who recognised the potential for solving problems associated with carrying heavy or high loads in reverse, over long distances.
With perfect all-round visibility, the operator has 'fly by wire' control of all the truck operations and can rotate the cab 30° to the left and up to 180° to the right. The Multi-Pilot control lever in the adjustable armrest combines all lifting and travelling commands, while power assisted steering gives precise control over the truck under all operating conditions.
