New weatherproof charger
April 1st 2007 Chloride Motive Power has introduced a new range of weatherproof chargers designed for use outdoors. These specialist chargers are suitable for any sector that has an electric vehicle fleet working predominantly outside and may negate the need for a dedicated indoor charger room. The new product also features protection against vermin, which may be attracted by the warm, dry conditions in the cabinet. The trap will not allow them into the inner workings of the cabinet but will enable them to escape outside. The charger is made from heavy duty galvanised steel and is coated with stove enamel paint, protecting the charger from rust. A high visibility perspex flap allows workers easy access to the controls and permits quick visual inspection without the need to raise the panel. It also has an integrated isolator so that it can be independently disconnected from the mains without the need to access the interior of the cabinet. The charger has an IP 44 rating and is available within the range of regulated chargers (RP).
