Battery management service December 1st 2004 Earlier this year at IMHX Barloworld Handling launched a comprehensive new battery management service for electric fleet operators, called ‘Powerfactor4’, which uses the latest traction battery and charger technology. Powerfactor4 is designed to provide cost savings through extended battery life, optimum shift life, reduced utility costs and faster battery changing, leading to improvements in fleet operational performance and efficiency.
Central to Powerfactor4 is MACBAT battery regeneration technology which delivers high pulses of current to remove sulphation and bring batteries back to ‘as new’ performance. As part of its service Barloworld will regularly ‘service regen’ batteries to de-sulphate the cells and provide optimum performance throughout the contract.
This process extends the life of batteries as well as reducing the high utility costs associated with charging.
Additionally, Barloworld provides access to the latest ‘Trak Air’ maintenance-free batteries, which reduce the need for topping up to approximately once every three months, to offer a truly fit-andforget solution.
Barloworld’s specialist battery management skills enable it to specify and install a wide range of battery charging, handling and storage systems for a totally integrated solution. This, combined with a total service package where Barloworld takes complete responsibility for battery topping up and maintenance issues, means reduced downtime and lower running costs for electric operators.
