Payback in under a year December 1st 2007 Gwent-based automotive
parts supplier Mollertech has
achieved payback in under a
year after leasing three
articulated Bendis.
With new business (from
BMW) creating storage
problems, only two courses
of action were feasible: go
offsite or reorganise existing
storage.
Investigation showed reorganising
would save
£210,000 a year compared
with an offsite move so
Mollertech called in Albion
Storage who specified
Dexion's P90 pallet racking,
which was designed around
the Bendi. As a result, the
company was able to reduce
its existing aisles from 3.2m
to 2.04m which allowed an
extra 45 per cent of pallet
and stillage spaces. Handling
stillages to 1.6m wide
prevented Mollertech from
narrowing the aisles to less
than 2m owing to damage
risks.
Previously the firm
operated a fleet of five reach
trucks and five
counterbalanced, but
replaced the reach trucks
with with three Bendi B313
trucks supplied by Dawson
Rentals. They are rated at
1,350 kg and lift both Euro
pallets and stillages to a top
beam height of 5.6m.
Worked intensively for 20
hours a day, they help to
despatch 15 articulated lorry
loads every 24 hours.
