Improve on-site vehicle movements
April 1st 2004

Modelling and simulation specialist, Cirrus Logistics, has added a new module to its CLASS logistics toolkit. The Site Traffic Module is said to be the first tool of its kind with the capability to quantify vehicle turn-around issues and test options for improving vehicle movements on site.

The product models road vehicle flows on, around or between warehouse sites and is designed to help managers avoid bottlenecks that cause significant delays in the supply chain and extend vehicle turnaround times. It analyses the dynamic effects of vehicle arrival and departure patterns, the consequential number of vehicles queuing at gatehouses, as well as waiting in parking areas, and the usage of bays.

The Module produces a series of reports on the basis of which the user can then run further simulations to test scenarios to maximise the volumes that can be moved through the site.
