Red alert for heavy vehicles

Vehicle tracking specialist Navman Wireless Business Solutions, has joined forces with on-board weighing systems specialist, Red Forge, to offer employers automatic alerts when their vehicles become overloaded.

If a vehicle exceeds its weight limit, the system will trigger an automatic alert in the driver's cab and simultaneously send an alert message to the employer's office PC or mobile phone.

Raw data from the Red Forge on-board weighing system is processed and transmitted to the employer via Navman's wireless technology. The integrated system is suitable for both light and heavy goods vehicles.

With enforcement of the regulations governing vehicle loads becoming ever more rigorous and penalties ranging from a £5,000 fine for each overloaded axle, to license revocations and criminal prosecution for some drivers and company personnel, Navman's alert service can help companies stay within the law and avoid costly mistakes.
