Small opto-electronic sensors
December 1st 2006

Although physically smaller than other models, the new PRK 25B range of optoelectronic sensors from Leuze Mayser is said to offer one of the most powerful specifications to suit extremely diverse applications – from simple sensing operations to those more challenging with reflective surfaces such as shrink wrap.

It is available in three basic variants, a retro-reflective unit with a large sensing distance up to 10m ideal for standard applications, a depolarisation sensor for detection of stretch or shrink wrapped items with a range of 8m, and a laser version for greater precision over a distance of 15m.

The new PRK 25B measures just 15mm x 36mm x 27mm, its housing offering protection to IP67 and IP69 and has operational temperatures from -40°C to +60°C.

Two of the key advantages of the new PRK 25B sensors are that they will continue to operate successfully even when suffering lens contamination caused by the environment and the inherent A2LS facility means outstanding insensitivity to spurious light. Throughout any processing operation top-mounted bright LEDs give all-round visibility to indicate sensor status.
