Many snappy returns with camera ID December 1st 2007 Curry's needed a new
sortation system for its
reverse logistics
warehouse in
Nottinghamshire.
Contractor PJ Gavin &
Sons enlisted Vitronic to
help with parcel
identification.
Vitronic supplied a
VICAMssi topside camera
mounted on a frame to
read the top side of items
travelling along a
powered conveyor. It
captures images of parcel
labels – even if they are
dirty, damaged or
handwritten – which the
system then processes.
The sorter coder uses the
results, which are 99.9
per cent successful, to
direct the products
accordingly. The system
doubles Curry's initially
required throughput. More articles from Vitronic UK: |
