Stretch hood protects goods April 1st 2007 End-of-line pallet packaging machinery specialist, Lachenmeier, will demonstrate its advanced Power Flex stretch hood packing machine at booth 4450. The live demo will show how a Euro pallet with Coca Cola cans should be handled to ensure maximum safety before it is transported to consumers. According to the company, with a speed of more than 170 pallets an hour, Power Flex replaces two, sometimes three, traditional stretch wrappers. Also, Lachenmeier says stretch hoods protect fragile packaging: Power Flex handles goods on the pallets gently and the strong film protects during transport. The machine works by placing a strong transparent film around the goods. The film is then expanded by four strong arms that place the film around the pallet. As the arms glide downwards they release the film, which tightens around the goods and pallet to form one stable unit, ensuring stability in even the most unstable types of goods, claims Lachenmeier. Because it uses thinner and thereby cheaper film and simultaneously preserves load stability, the company says it reduces costs compared to traditional stretch wrapping, particularly as it does not require heat and only uses one layer of wrapping. |
