Plastic pallets given due credit June 1st 2005 For years Klockner-Pentaplast has supplied rigid films to a security and credit card manufacturer which demanded that it use plastic pallets for deliveries – as wood fibres found in card manufacture can cause huge problems.
Customers from other printing sectors were soon making the same demands on their suppliers and Klockner-Pentaplast reacted quickly, organising the changeover to plastic pallets at its factory. After assessing the options, the company felt Craemer plastic pallets achieve the best results. Klockner-Pentaplast selected Craemer’s CR1 (1200 x 800mm) and the CR3 (1200 x 1000mm) which have extremely high load-bearing capability and can be used for universal purposes, according to the company. Pallets used in the KP factory have to carry heavy loads and support weights up to 1,100Kg.
Because of the investment required, the changeover took place gradually, and there are now 5,800 pallets in use across three European plants. However, the pallets soon pay for themselves.
“Since we realised that this pallet pays its way as soon as it has circulated back and forth to our factory five times, the purchase price is no longer the main consideration,” says Michael Sigruner, KP’s manager of Technology Services. More articles from Craemer UK Ltd: |
