Plastic boxes for greater security and traceability

Switching from cardboard boxes to secure plastic hinged lid boxes from Linpac Materials Handling has enabled The Carphone Warehouse to achieve a 100% security record on its store deliveries.

Operatives use handheld scanners to pick into the boxes, which are individually reference coded. The system alerts the operative if an incorrect product or quantity has been picked, allowing an accuracy rate of 99.8% to be achieved.

Once picking is complete the box is secured at each end by a randomly numbered security tag that fits through apertures situated on the box lid, providing a highly secure fastening.

This system gives the box full traceability, with a clear indication if it has been tampered with.
