One piece shelf ready container

DS Smith Corrugated has worked with a major supplier of dried fruit and nut products to change an existing shelf ready container from a hand erect tray and separate 0200 hood to a one-piece system.

The new concept - Shelfmaster - is a glued carton with a unique 'Z' folding section that facilitates single finger separation of the top from the base. The top comes away immediately and the back flap is simply torn away from the base, all without the use of any tool or knife; an increasingly important safety measure in crowded store areas.

The design of the new one-piece style system utilising kraft liners has maintained product security and is 100% recyclable. At the same time printing has been enhanced and brand loyalty ensured with a stylish black and metallic silver design, finished with varnish. Whilst fixing and giving anti-scuff properties, all printing elements are water based and environmentally friendly.

Since its introduction the packers have found the new design easier to erect, fill and unitise with stretch wrap on a pallet.

The finished item is fully visible during delivery and temporary distribution storage.
