Sharp fall in bad back absenteeism February 1st 2006 Confronted with problems regarding manual handing in the production area from having to load and unload heavy rubber matting from a pallet on the floor, Alan Jackson, packaging manager for Cannon Rubber went to Handling Equipment Sales for a solution.
A Kentruck GXE, electric high lift was put on demonstration, which proved successful from the start. The company placed an order for one truck. However, this was so popular with the operators that an order was quickly placed for more machines.
"Since these were put into operation we have seen a sharp fall in sickness and absenteeism due to bad or sprained backs," says Jackson. "We have reduced the manual handling of the rubber matting and good access all around the machines improves the efficiency of the production operators when they are loading and moving products.
"We feel that the Kentruck machines have proved to be very good value for money, they have surpassed all our requirements, reducing the need for overtime."
