Second line available for emergencies
August 1st 2004

Waste management company, Yorwaste has installed two PROline overhead safety systems from Proteq at its depot in York.

The systems have been installed beneath workshop roofs to enable safe and easy access to the elevated systems on Yorwastes fleet of rear end loader wagons that come into the depot for maintenance.

Tested to BS EN 795 category C, the PROline system consists of a minium of two or more safetylines running parallel beneath the roof of a building, allowing independent access for two more more operatives to undertake tasks and ensuring that there will always be a second line available to assist an injured employee in case of emergency.

The system is able to accommodate uninterrupted spans of 25m. The lines are installed either by fixing load tested anchorages to the centre line of the roof truss, or by clamping a purpose designed fixing bracket on to the flange beam. The lines are plastic coated to ensure smooth running of the fall arrest attachment.
