Investors in barriers
February 1st 2005

A-Fax Ltd has invested heavily in new production line equipment to improve product quality and therefore its standing as a UK supplier of plastic safety barrier products.

The investment, says AFax, will have a significant impact on its popular range of in-house manufactured polypropylene safety barrier products – which are used extensively in both internal and external applications in warehousing and distribution facilities.

The barrier products rely on a specific polymer blend to provide the assembled barrier with it’s impact absorption and deflection properties. Technical Manager, Luke Smith, believes the greater blend control that will be achieved as a result of the investment will ensure the extruded sections used in manufacture and assembly of the barrier products are effectively defect free – improving performance under impact conditions.

“The higher extrusion tolerances we can now achieve enable more accurate machining – making assembly of the barrier products easier and quicker for our customers,” says Smith. A-Fax’s barrier product range comprises a range of several barriers designed to cater for differing impact loadings and protection levels (which may be required in various locations – often on the same site).

Notably, its Pedestrian Barrier was selected as a finalist in last years’ Plastics Industry Awards.

“The new equipment allows production to higher tolerances – which will further enhance the reputation and performance of our complete range of barriers in the market place”, said Production Manager James Smith.
