Safe lock for machine guards
April 1st 2005

Troax says its latest Safe Lock mechanical interlocking system improves physical protection for workers where automated machinery is in operation.

Safe Lock 1088, says the company, provides safe, authorised access to machine guarding enclosures, ensuring that doors to protected zones can only be locked or unlocked from the outside, preventing personnel from being trapped inside the zone. Additionally, the system now has an additional safety mechanism which prevents it from being over-ridden by unauthorised personnel and so ensures a higher level of protection for employees.

With the new model a specially designed steel screen protects the locking switch and prevents tampering with a grip, wire or screwdriver, making interference virtually impossible, says Troax.

Retaining original safety features such as the antientrapment lever allowing escape from the enclosure in the event of becoming trapped, all safe locks can be also be locked open – preventing unauthorised reclosing of the door and restarting of the machine.

For use in both swing and sliding doors, the Safe Lock 1088 can only be supplied in conjunction with Troax’s Safe T machine guarding panels.
