Safe system of handling cylinders
December 1st 2008 Safety Trolley Systems (STS)
has manufactured a cylinder
handler and agitator unit to
handle cylinders weighing
up to 350kg that are being
filled, refurbished or tested.
The unit pictured is fully
mobile, so the operator can
wheel it to the pallet of
cylinders and line up the
bottom plate with the pallet.
The cylinder is then rolled
onto the bottom plate. The
operator can power close the
clamp to secure the cylinder
and wheel the unit around.
Clamping pads are lined
with synthetic rubber that is
able to grip the cylinder even
if it is wet. Once clamped
the unit can rotate the
cylinder through 360° in
either direction. It agitates
contents by rotating + or
-10° using an electronic
programmable control system
