Automated handling system boosts productivity June 1st 2006 A versatile automated handling system from Univeyor has helped boost productivity by 70% at Graham's Toiletries new warehouse and distribution centre in Lancashire.
At the start of the process palletised goods are received, checked and input to the WMS before being fed on to an accumulating conveyor and transported via pallet elevators to one of six sorter induct stations.
Here an operator check weighs and scans the product.
When the required amount has been inducted any remaining product is returned to ground level and transferred on to a double shuttle car, which delivers the pallet to a VNA truck.
The truck then places the pallet in an available storage location.
Bulky items are fed on to pallets on a second mezzanine across a bridge, which uses gravity rollers.
Univeyor also coordinated installation of the racking to accommodate 11,000 pallet locations. More articles from Univeyor A/S: |
